Dr. Daphne Pillai, along with her husband, Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, had the honor of being invited as a part of the Prime Ministerial business delegation at the BRIC-IBSA summit in Rio-de-Janeiro in April 2010.
The areas of co-operation and collaboration included the sectors of energy, information technology, infrastructure and food and agriculture. The BRIC countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa discussed the various areas where co-operation between the countries were possible.
